175g helmet set to be lightest road race helmet in the world

Giro Prolight debuts at the Tour

Officially debuting tomorrow (Friday July 10th) at the seventh stage of the Tour de France, the Giro Prolight looks set to be the lightest road race helmet in the world, according to the manufacturer.

Weighing approximately 175g for a size medium helmet, the Prolight will be worn by the riders from Astana, Rabobank and Garmin, amongst others.

Giro has already used the Prolight name back in the mid 1980’s and the new model is expected to be as groundbreaking and innovative as it’s earlier namesake.

The new prolight includes 25 vents with fully optimised channelling, new Roc Loc SL self-adjusting ultra-light fit system, three position snap baskets in the temple area on each side of the helmet and elastic band to allow for a wide range of adjustment in each size.

The new model is set to be available early next year from Madison.
