Verona-based Italian shoe manufacturer DMT has introduced a brand-new shoe for its star rider, Tadeji Pogačar, and launched it to coincide with the Slovenian’s first time racing the Giro d’Italia.
The brand-new Pogi’s DMT’s are the latest top-of-the-line cycling shoes from the brand which can trace its history back to 1978, with the DMT name coming to life in 1986.
For a shoe packed with features, it is the Ice-Key technology, which really stands out. Pioneered by DMT, as the first global cycling shoe provider to implement it, this enables immediate identification in case of a fall or accident, complete with personal and clinical data.
Shoe innovation, technology, and trademark DMT craftsmanship
Featuring what DMT calls a Super Light carbon sole, the Pogi’s sport an integrated AeroSafe pocket for secure and compact lace storage, and a breathable AeroFlex upper that, thanks to DMT’s exclusive knit technology, reportedly offers an optimal blend of aerodynamics and durability.
Additionally, the shoe boasts the Flex Fit collar for elasticity, integrated 3D channels, and lace-retaining pulleys that ensure enhanced foot support and stability during pedalling.
Nicola Minali, DMT’s R&D specialist explains: “The Pogi’s shoes are the result of ongoing discussions and consultations with various professional athletes who wear DMT, including Tadej.
“Our goal is to ensure superior performance and unparalleled comfort on the road, and the new pulley closure system we’ve incorporated serves just that purpose, along with many other details.
“We’re excited to introduce a shoe to the market that exceeds every expectation, combining technology and design. Now we just have to enjoy Tadej’s feats at the Giro.”
For Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates, the season already counts several victories. The Slovenian won Strade Bianche with a stunning 90km solo ride, landing on the podium at Milano-Sanremo, and then dominating the Volta a Catalunya with an overall victory and four stage wins.
A solo ride that secured his second Liege-Bastogne-Liege victory. After winning the Tour de France twice sights are now set on one of the few races missing from his palmarès, the Corsa Rosa. In his debut appearance Pogačar has already added a stage victory to his tally and currently rides in the race leaders maglia rosa.
