The Irish bike company Funked Up is pleased to welcome Chris Hewings, who will join the team as CEO with immediate effect. 

The addition of Chris to the team reflects the continued growth of the Funked Up brand over the past 3 years."We’re really excited about Chris joining the team," said Olaf O’Moore, founder of the brand.

“Chris has worked with a number of market-leading brands within the bike industry, and has significant experience of not only the Irish bike market but also the international bike market, in terms of sales, marketing and procurement.

"We’ve seen rapid sales growth in Ireland and the UK recently and are now seeing the acceptance and growth of the brand in many export markets. Chris’s experience managing a variety of sales & marketing channels for bicycle brands around the world will be invaluable to Funked Up as we continue to expand.

"Our business is based on quality of service in addition to making the best urban bikes in the world, so it’s important that we have the right people on board who can help us successfully manage our growth and offer a level of service to our customers that matches the quality of our brand.”

Chris Hewings has worked within the bicycle industry for the past 12 years, working with a diverse array of brands. His most recent roles include the management and rapid growth of the Cube brand in Ireland,the Parlee brand in the EU and Australia, and the Lightweight brand in the UK.

Of the move, Chris said: “I can’t wait to get started. Funked Up is currently the largest Irish-based bike brand, and I’m looking forward to helping the existing team to expand into new markets. We’ll continue to grow sales via our website, but also help service the growing number of enquiries we’re receiving from traditional bike stores around the world. We’re well positioned to build on our recent growth in domestic markets, and make Funked Up a truly international bicycle brand”.
