Fresh brand gets behind the Folding Bike Race

New sponsor revealed for Noc-Tern

Tern has been confirmed as the new sponsor of the Folding Bike Race at the IG London Nocturne on Saturday June 9th.

The Folding Bike race has featured in every edition of the London Nocturne since 2007 and the Tern Folding Bike Race will follow the same format as previous years, with heats leading to a grand final around the streets of Smithfield Market. The event has a cult following and a fancy dress theme that is always adhered to by its loyal supporters.

Each year suited London commuters run to their steeds in a ‘Le Mans’ style start, speedily unfolding them to gain an edge over rivals.

"We’re very excited by the partnership with Tern and have been impressed by the impact made by the brand since its launch last year," said IG London Nocturne organiser James Pope. "Tern bikes are modern, high quality and very stylish so a perfect brand fit with the Nocturne. Tern’s international profile will also help spread the excitement of the Nocturne to a global audience and we are looking forward to working with UK distributor, Evans Cycles.”

Evans Cycles marketing director, Ben Hart added: “As this is our first year with Tern Bicycles, and with the obvious London commuter connection, NocTERN just made sense.”

Tern sales and marketing director Matt Davis added: “All the team behind Tern Bicycles just love the Smithfield NocTERN race, and have supported it for many years. The team will be on hand at the event showcasing the range, answering questions and enjoying the great atmosphere.”

Despite being a new brand to the UK, Tern has a strong heritage in developing folding bikes and features a collection of 20, 24 and 26-inch wheel folding bikes, for commuting and leisure use, to the high performance Verge range and the go-anywhere full size Joe folding bikes. The partnership with Nocturne will mean entrants will be competing for one of the latest 2012 Tern bikes.

The Tern Folding Bike Race will be one of the highlights of an action packed schedule culminating in the floodlit Elite Criterium. The event is free to attend and competitors can enter still enter the race online at www.londonnocturne.com.
