Recyke y’Bike is a bike recycling charity based in Byker and Chester-le-Street. We have just celebrated our 20th birthday and are going from strength to strength.

At Recyke y’bike, we believe that bikes are a great way to address a range of social, economic and environmental issues (transport poverty, health inequalities, mental health, unemployment) as well as being really fun! With this belief and passion, we are committed to empowering more people to have access to a bike alongside the skills to keep it working.

We do this by taking unwanted bikes and refurbish them with a team of volunteers. The bikes are then either given to individuals who have been referred to us or sold in our retail stores. Alongside refurbishing bikes, we offer commercial servicing and repairs, and sales of new and second-hand bike parts and accessories.

We run a huge range of outreach across the North East, such as Dr Bikes, workshops and training opportunities.  This role is a well-established store manager role for our main site and HQ – Byker. Based within the shop, the role will be hands-on, including on the tools, serving customers and line managing mechanics and volunteers across the site. It will also involve the coordination of outreach with the Charitable Operations Manager.

Content Manager: Whyte Bikes

We’re looking for a Content Manager who can tell our story with the same care and conviction we put into our bikes.  We’re looking for someone who knows what great content looks like in different contexts and understands how third-party (social media) content can be harnessed to build relationships and drive engagement back towards our owned channels.

This role is hands-on across the entire production process: ideating, planning, shooting, editing, posting, analysing, and doing it all again.  You’ll deliver our content strategy, and oversee its execution across our website, direct marketing, and social channels.

Sound like a lot? Then this might not be for you.  Sound like empowerment to get in the driving seat and deliver on a vision?  Then you’re in the right place.
