Castelli has launched Transition, a new range of cycling apparel designed to bridge the gap between summer and winter riding kit.
The Italian cycling apparel brand said the collection has been developed in response to increasingly changeable conditions between traditional summer and winter seasons, with riders often facing temperatures that are too cool for lightweight summer kit but too mild for full thermal layers.
Transition is built around a core group of products intended for rides in variable weather, typically between 12°C and 20°C. The range includes long-sleeve jerseys, lightweight bib tights, thermal bib shorts, packable insulation and lightweight protective layers.
Andrew Montgomery, Castelli product line manager, said: “The old way of riding was simple; summer gear in summer, winter gear in winter. Today, due to factors like climate change, cycling moves at a different pace. Seasons don’t hit like a switch; they transition gradually over a more prolonged period, giving us an expanded window of riding.”
Montgomery added that the concept was created to address what Castelli sees as an underserved period in the cycling market.
He said: “Transition represents a completely different way of thinking about this time of year. It focuses on a nucleus of core products riders genuinely reach for during these widening months. The future of cycling apparel isn’t simply creating better summer and winter kit; it’s also about creating high-performance clothing for all the conditions in between.”
Corretto LS Jersey leads the launch
The first product highlighted in the Transition range is the Corretto LS Jersey, designed for conditions where summer heat has started to fade but heavier layers are not yet required.
The long-sleeve jersey uses lightweight, breathable and aerodynamic fabrics, offering more coverage than a short-sleeve jersey while aiming to prevent overheating. Features include three rear pockets, a fourth zipped security pocket, a tailored fit, a full-length YKK Vislon zipper, an elastic silicone waist gripper and a claimed weight of 194g for the men’s version and 170g for the women’s version.
The men’s Corretto LS Jersey is available in Steel Fade/Chestnut-Vivid and Night Shade/Elmwood-Rosa Giro, in sizes XS-3XL. The women’s version is available in Paprika/Winter Sky, in sizes XXS-XL. RRP is €170, $210 and £175.
