Bikebiz and bikebook continue to champion the hard work and dedication of the UK’s bike mechanics through our ongoing Mechanic of the Month initiative. 

The partnership was launched to spotlight the hard work and dedication of the UK’s best bike mechanics, recognising their essential role in the cycling community. Each month, a winner is chosen, and we share their story and passion with the wider industry. 

So far, we’ve had the pleasure of featuring two outstanding winners:

• Christopher Jackson of Cadence Cycleworks
• Rob Symes of SymesBikes

“It’s been great to see so many Mechanic of the Month nominations come through so far, helping spotlight names who often deserve more recognition for their work, expertise and innovation behind the scenes,” said Ryan Elson, co-founder of bikebook.

“Supporting the next generation of bicycle mechanics and technicians is an important mission of ours at bikebook, so we hope that this initiative can inspire new mechanics who can one day earn recognition, whilst also motivating others with aspirations of being recognised for their work too.”

Bikebiz and bikebook Call on the Industry for Support!

To make this initiative bigger and better, the Bikebiz and bikebook are calling on the wider cycling industry to get involved. We’re looking for partners who can help us offer additional support and incentives for our future winners.

BikeBiz editor, Lauren Jenkins, said:

Given the recent press around the shortage of mechanics throughout the industry, I feel like it’s even more important that this initiative exists. Whilst there’s more we could do beyond, we’re hoping that bringing additional partners or support on board will help us find ways to support mechanics, showcase the profession and the various career opportunities and pathways available. 

It’s great to see that the shortage has been highlighted and the industry are trying to find solutions. We’re hoping to play a small part. I’m open to hearing from anyone who may have suggestions and might want to get involved.
