Styrkr launches Gel50 as product range expands to meet demand

Styrkr, the British sports nutrition business, has added a new product to its range with the introduction of Gel50.

Gel50 has been created to be a “quick and convenient energy gel packed with 50g of dual-carbohydrates”, and offered in two flavours – mixed berry and citrus fruits.

Designed to help athletes push their limits, providing fast uptake energy, each serving of Gel50 is optimised around the same research backed ratio of 1:0.8 found in all Styrkr products.

Blending two transportable carbohydrates – maltodextrin and fructose – at a ratio of 1:0.8 has been shown to improve the exogenous carbohydrate oxidation rate and cause the least amount of gut discomfort, when compared to ratios of 1:1.25 and 2:1.

Gel50 delivers 50g of dual carbohydrates and is made from six natural ingredients which are vegan, gluten-free and responsibly sourced.

Ensuring athletes can consume Styrkr Gel50 with confidence, the product is also tested against WADA banned substances (not to be confused with Informed Sport certification).

Christian Sanderson, Styrkr’s managing director, has emphasised the brand’s commitment to innovation and meeting the needs of everyday athletes.

He said: “In response to customer feedback, we developed Gel50 as a flavourful gamechanger. It minimises consumption while maximising hourly carb intake, ensuring athletes stay focused with fast energy and zero flavour fatigue.”

Sanderson also highlights Gel50’s success in the Badlands ultra distance race, where Styrkr brand manager Sam Andrews claimed first place in the pairs category, consuming more than 500g during 45 hours without any stomach issues.

RRP for Gel50 is £2.50, or €3.65, per serving.

UK distribution options for retail partners

While retail partners can buy Styrkr direct from the business, Upgrade Bikes began offering Styrkr as part of their product portfolio in November 2023.

The Upgrade distribution partnership enables IBDs to top up on Styrkr, as part of a wider order with Upgrade, and, in doing so, receive free shipping on the collective order (as per Upgrade minimum order value), making replenishment, and order quantities, more manageable.
