The One-Point-Five Interface Standard was developed to create a common set of head-tube, head set and fork steerer interface dimensions to promote standardization and allow the exchange of fully compatible parts between various manufacturers of branded components.

The current 1 1/8 standard used for MTBs was established when bikes did not have front suspension. Increasing diameter makes for an increase in both stiffness and strength in all steering and head tube components, with minimal weight gains.

With the One-Point-Five Standard, Manitou claim a 44 percent increase in fork strength and increased stiffness of 134 percent.
