UCI top brass fly back to Madrid

Thanks to an attempted injunction to force fair play in Friday's election of a new UCI president, sixteen members of the UCI's seventeen-strong management committee had refused to take part in the opening ceremony of the UCI world road championships taking place in Madrid. The court action has now failed and Friday's election will take place as planned in Madrid.

The Outdoor Industries Association is staging its last GO Outdoors show this weekend. There's been a Harrogate trade show in the autumn since the 1960s but "to meet the changing buying patterns of brands and retailers" next year the show becomes outdoorpreview and will be held in July.
