This past week saw Chris Curtis – Labour Party Parliamentary candidate for Milton Keynes North – visit Madison and Sportline.
The visit was an opportunity for Curtis to get to know the business and discuss the issues currently facing the cycling industry as well as the active travel agenda – even in a city as bike-friendly as Milton Keynes there are still many ways in which cycling can further integrate with daily life.
Curtis visited the Madison Distribution Centre in Bradwell Abbey, Milton Keynes and spent time with various members of staff, talking about what Madison does as a business and learning about the brands it represents.
With 2024 being an election year, it’s extremely important for figures around the industry to take the opportunity to spend time with potential decision-makers.
As a Milton Keynes native, Curtis is well aware of the benefits that ‘new towns’ have to offer and has written about it for the Guardian in the past, highlighting the ability to move around independent of the traffic instead of adding to it.
Of the visit, Dominic Langan, CEO of Madison and Sportline, said: “It was a great opportunity to showcase Madison but more importantly to present to Chris the challenges and opportunities for the UK cycle industry.

“As well as explaining where a new government’s support for cycling could deliver massive benefits for the country from improved health (both physical and mental), through to better air quality, reduced congestion and achieving our net zero goals.
“It was so encouraging to see genuine interest from Chris and I wish him every success in the next general election. Special thanks also to Scott Cain from the Bicycle Association of Great Britain.”
Curtis will stand for Labour at the next general at Milton Keynes North where Conservative Ben Everitt holds a majority of 6,255.
