Kalas Sportswear, a leading European manufacturer of cycling apparel and Vorteq, a world leader in performance cycling aerodynamics, are extending their partnership through to 2027 ahead of the next Olympics in LA.
Since its inception, the partnership between Kalas and Vorteq has delivered innovations based on research conducted at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub wind tunnel, supported by the expertise of leading aerodynamics engineers and Kalas’ state-of-the-art facilities in Tábor, Czech Republic.
Together, the two companies have consistently pushed the boundaries of performance in race suits and other highly technical products used by professional cyclists. Over 400 fabric combinations and more than 150 prototypes of cycling race suits have been tested and created during the current partnership.
Modifications to the clothing in the Project collection can now reduce riders’ CdA (drag coefficient) by up to 11 %. The companies introduced a two-layer technology, which was the first of its kind in the World Tour road cycling.
“Our collaboration with Vorteq is built on a shared ambition to create technically perfect products that deliver measurable performance benefits to cyclists,” says František Klouček, Head of Development at Kalas Sportswear. “Extending the partnership is proof that together we can develop top-tier products with clear aerodynamic advantages. We look forward to further joint projects and technological breakthroughs.”
Representatives of the British partner also confirm that the synergy between the two companies brings exceptional results, with Chris Beck, Head of Business Development at Vorteq, commenting:
“The partnership between Kalas and Vorteq has allowed us to push the limits of aerodynamic product development not just in a textiles lab or wind tunnel, but with some of the world’s fastest riders and teams in cycling. We’re excited to continue this work through the Project range and bring the fastest solutions to riders from amateur and club level all the way to Olympic and World Tour victories“.
By extending their partnership until 2027, both companies reaffirm their commitment to the long-term development of products that stand at the very forefront of modern cycling equipment.
