Online retailer aims to make own-brand bikes "a recognised and dominant force in the industry"

Jones joins Wiggle to head up own-brand

David Jones has recently been appointed as head of own-brand product development – hard goods at online bike retailer Wiggle.co.uk. Jones will be spearheading Wiggle’s move into own-brand bikes, working on projects including the recently launched Verenti Sportive bikes as well as MTB and road race brands in years to come.

His main duties will be overseeing and managing the design, sourcing and production of Wiggle’s bikes and accessories. Working alongside Wiggle brand designer Marc Edwardson, Jones says it is his intention for Wiggle’s own-brand bikes “to become a recognised and dominant force in the industry”.

Jones joins Wiggle after more than 12 years working at Cycling Sports Group (CSG, formerly Hot Wheels), the UK importer and distributor of Cannondale, GT, Mongoose and Charge Bikes. During his time there, he helped develop the Charge brand into a market leader in urban, fixed gear and hardtail MTB. He was also responsible for international sales, which covered distribution in more than ten countries.

Paul Bolwell, Wiggle’s merchandising director, said: “We are delighted to have David on board. He has a wealth of sourcing experience and knowledge. Over the coming years, both he and Marc will be busy working on our exciting own-brand bike projects.”
