With the Kettwiesel TWO, Hase Bikes is launching a new full-suspension electric parallel tandem. Two people sit side by side and enjoy the journey together – even if their physical abilities differ. The TWO has been designed for couples, families and carers, as well as for organisations that wish to help people stay active and mobile together.
“The Kettwiesel TWO isn’t about giving anyone a lift. It’s about riding together – side by side, on an equal footing, and with the opportunity for both riders to play an active part in the ride,” explains Marec Hase, founder and managing director of Hase Bikes.
Travelling together rather than being a passenger
What makes the Kettwiesel TWO so special is the combination of shared mobility and active participation. Both riders sit at eye level; they can see each other, talk to one another and look out for one another. The passenger can pedal independently – either with full force or as much as is individually possible. This turns movement into a shared experience, rather than simply transporting a person from A to B.
Comfort and ergonomics to suit different needs
To ensure that both riders feel comfortable and safe, the Kettwiesel TWO is fully suspended. A front suspension fork and the responsive MacPherson suspension at the rear ensure a comfortable ride even on uneven roads. Swivel seats make it easier to get in and transfer from a wheelchair. The seat position and angle, as well as the handlebars, can be adjusted to suit individual preferences; the telescopic frame accommodates riders from 1.30 to 2.00 metres in height.

Powerful support for everyday life and touring
Power is provided by a Bosch Performance Line motor delivering 100 Nm. It also provides powerful yet finely controlled assistance on inclines or when carrying heavier loads. A range of gear options and an optional dual battery allow the TWO to be adapted to different uses and longer rides.
Easy to handle and transport
Even when not in motion, the TWO has been designed to be as easy to use as possible. The small turning circle makes manoeuvring easier. For storage and transport, the seat backs and handlebars can be folded down and the frame can be collapsed. The bike thus folds down to a packed size of 180 × 117 × 69 cm and, weighing from 57.5 kg, can be lifted upright by two people onto, for example, an Allround car roof rack.
Accessories for individual requirements
With the right accessories, the Kettwiesel TWO can be tailored to suit different riders and everyday situations. These include, amongst other things, armrests, footrests and seat belts, as well as transport solutions for luggage, rollators, wheelchairs or walking aids.
An idea from the past, built for today.
The idea behind the Kettwiesel TWO goes back a long way: More than 38 years ago, as a teenager, Marec Hase built a tandem on which two people could sit side by side. The reason was a desire to be able to go cycling with a blind friend. The prototype won an award at the ‘Jugend forscht’ competition. Decades later, the Kettwiesel TWO revisits this concept using modern technology.
“I’d already had the idea of getting two people to cycle side by side when I was a teenager. The fact that this is now becoming a production-ready bike means a lot to me – not least because the original idea has remained the same: being able to cycle together,” says Marec Hase.
