It's heavy on information, light on selling. But this won't last. 150 products will be available to buy online this month, with the whole Halfords range online by the end of the year

Halfords.com goes live

Requesting www.halfords.com has been a frustrating business. The holding page promised the full site would be open in May but this never happened. Even on into June the same holding page was being used.

Then, today, when going to the URL to strike fear in your hearts (or not as the case may be!) up it came: a fully working site.

Created by iPcenta for the Boots-owned chain, Halfords.com gives tons of background info on the company, access to PDF downloads of the company’s trading statements (as published on bikebiz.co.uk on 1st June) and has 20 percent off deals on bikes. Except that there’s no hyperlinks to any such offer. No products are online at the moment. 150 will be available later this month with the whole Halfords offering by the end of the year. All products will be shipped by courier.

The site right now aims to drive custom to the bricks and mortar stores, with the online store locator taking centre stage on the site so far.

Halfords will soon start tagging their URL to their existing TV and print adverts.
