European Cycling Industries (ECI) has launched State of Trade European Cycling, in partnership with sports data specialist Sporting Insights, SoTEC – a data platform that provides cycling brands with unique insights into the dynamics of the European market.
SoTEC aims to replace the industry’s historical reliance on estimates. With quarterly updates of monthly sell-in data and a dedicated dashboard, cycling businesses can now align production, inventory, and forecasting in real time (across specific bicycle categories). Crucially, all processing and aggregation is strictly compliant with EU competition laws, ensuring all displayed data is fully anonymised to guarantee absolute commercial privacy.
Industry leaders including Specialized, Trek, Pon.Bike, Giant, and Decathlon have joined as founding participants, establishing SoTEC as the definitive data benchmark for the European market.
Pon.Bike:
“To plan ahead in today’s market, we need more than rough benchmarks. SoTEC offers us a consistent and reliable source of data, which allows us to make smarter, long-term strategic investments.”
Decathlon:
“By understanding market trends, we can better assess current customer needs and keep cycling accessible to everyone, everywhere.”
Companies interested in benefiting from the SoTEC data ecosystem ahead of the next quarterly reporting cycle can contact European Cycling Industries or Sporting Insights directly.
