First seen at Interbike, the chunky naviiON cycle computer is billed as an "electronic biker's road book." It's Czech designed and built and has an integral altimeter.

Euro launch of nav-capable cycle computer

As well as providing all the usual cyclocomputer features, naviiON includes route data storage, temperature and a full range of altitude information (±1m), including current and cumulative altitude, total trip altitude, and maximum and minimum altitude etc. All route data is stored in naviiON’s memory and can be subsequently viewed and evaluated graphically on a PC with the include naviiSOFT program.

naviiON uses a three dimensional point-to-point method for navigation. This method is based on three independent variables – the distance to the next junction, the exact shape and description of the intersection including entry and exit, and the altitude profile.

naviiON users can load and follow existing routes and can also create their own routes. To make this process easier, naviiON is equipped with a digital voice recorder for on the hoof route descriptions. These recordings can be played back on naviiON or on a PC.

Users of naviiON may exchange their routes with buddies via email or post them on the company’s website for other naviiON users to download.

naviion uses CompactFlash memory and is powered by standard AAA alkaline or rechargeable batteries. naviiON is also upgradeable, allowing the modification of the internal operating system.

naviiON is available in two versions: naviiON Basic includes the naviiON computer, manual and CD with naviiSOFT at €199; naviiON Pro also include AAA batteries, serial cable, 16 MB CompactFlash memory card, USB CompactFlash reader, a carrying case and mount and front wheel sensor at €319.
