Cycle Show-set competition unearths speediest bike mechanic

Emsworth Cycles’ Rob Sheppard is the Fastest Wrench in the West

Rob Sheppard of Emsworth Cycles, on the Hampshire and West Sussex border, won the ACT’s ‘Fast Wrench’ competition, held at Cycle Show 2010.

The competition – overseen by the ACT’s parner ATG Training – saw hopefuls remove the front wheel of a disk braked MTB, extract the innertube, replace and re-inflate the tyre to 20psi in the shortest time possible.

Over the four days of the show, 30 visitors tried out their skills at the ACT stand.

Sheppard beat all of the challengers and completed the task in an impressive time of 58 seconds. He won a Cytech training course to increase his already undoubted skills.
