Cycling industry podcast gets 50,000 downloads in April

The 11-year-old Spokesmen podcast had its best ever month, with 49,630 downloads in April. The industry show is now hosted by BikeBiz executive editor Carlton Reid, who has been with the podcast since it started in 2006.

Available on iTunes and other podcast hubs the show is usually a "roundtable" of industry veterans and cycle journalists, including Americans Tim Jackson, Neil Browne and Bike mag editor Nicole Formasa. However, the latest show is interviews by Reid with freelance cycle journalist Laura Laker, and Simon Warren, author of the "100 climbs" books.

In one of the other April episodes there were interviews with Guardian journalist Peter Walker, Martha Roskowski of People for Bikes and TV Motos International’s Gregg Betonte. There was also an inspiring show with Reid interviewing industry veteran Michael Bonney.

Most of the subscribers to the Spokesmen Cycling Roundtable Podcast are based in the US, with the UK being the next biggest market.
