October 4th meeting scheduled for potential bidders

Copenhagen puts out tender for bike-sharing scheme

The city of Copenhagen and the city of Frederiksberg, as well as the Public Transport Operators Metroselskabet and DSB S-tog have entered a collaboration on the development of a bike-sharing system, which will initially cover the cities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. A tender is soon to be issued.

At a later stage, the system could be offered to other organisations such as other cities, public entities and private enterprises.

The task of establishing, operating and maintaining the bike-sharing-system will be EU-tendered in December 2011. At the start of October, a tender notice will be published and the prequalification will start. In connection with the prequalification, an information meeting for potential bidders will be held October 4th 2011. This meet, which outlines the requirements of the scheme will be held at 16.00 to 18.00 CET at:

DSB Headquarters
Sølvgade 40B
1307 Copenhagen
Denmark

The successful bidder will be able to connect the existing public transportation system, which focuses on transportation of many people over long distances with high comfort and short travel times, with the high flexibility of a bike. This generates increased accessibility to business parks, residential areas, shopping and other areas of interest, which today are rarely serviced by public transport or where the existing network does not offer an attractive service.

Please register for the information meeting no later than 3rd October 12:00 by sending an email to Kim Guldbrandsen: kgu@dsb.dk.
