Cannondale to be first to fit Bosch Powertrain. Bike will be unveiled at Eurobike in August.

Bosch makes e-bike drive system

The Bosch Powertrain system includes drive unit, control unit, sensor concept, lithium ion battery pack and control computer. This is Bosch’s first entry into the bike trade.

The Stuttgart-based group is partnering with Cannondale to bring the e-bike propulsion unit to market, although other manufacturers will be able to spec the unit.

Rainer Jeske, head of Bosch Powertrain Systems eBike, said:

"We are an ideal supplier for bicycle manufacturers. We are happy to partner with Cannondale who shares our ambitions."

Bob Burbank, General Manager for Cannondale, said:

"As we look to align with strategic partners, we work with like-minded companies that are pushing the limits with new technologies that can advance the riding experience. With Bosch we strive to create a better transportation option with a unique technology."

Powertrain is a pedal-assist system.
