BicycleBusiness magazine, BikeBiz.com and the BikeBizBible have been bought by leading entertainment and leisure trade magazine publisher Intent Media.

Bigger, better BikeBiz on the way

A major relaunch will follow, with the monthly print trade title BicycleBusiness gaining significant investment, increased circulation and a complete re-design. It will also change its name to BikeBiz, consolidating the monthly magazine, website and directory under one brand.

Intent already publishes market leading trade titles such as ToyNews, MCV: The Market for Home Computing & Video Games, Mobile Entertainment, PC Retail and Develop.

Carlton Reid, previously publisher and owner of the BikeBiz portfolio, has also signed a two year deal to remain as editor of all IntentÂ’s cycling titles.

”We believe that the cycling business perfectly suits our specialism within vibrant, growing markets with leisure at their heart,” said Intent Media MD Stuart Dinsey.

“We will retain the existing strengths of the BikeBiz portfolio, whilst adding our publishing expertise to help drive the cycling trade at all levels. We will be the voice of an increasingly diverse, upbeat community.”

Intent Media intends to increase the BikeBiz circulation and pagination, including a wider international readership. Magazine size will shift to super-A4 and it will be published to a strict monthly schedule – the first new edition hitting stores and desks from the second week of February

Carlton Reid launched BicycleBusiness and BikeBiz.com in 1999. Welcoming the sale, he said: "Intent Media will be able to take BikeBiz to the next stage of its development. The monthly magazine will benefit from having an editorial team, a design team, a sales team and the admin back-up of a larger company."

A dummy of the new-look BikeBiz monthly will be circulated to advertisers in mid-January.

IntentÂ’s group advertising manager and cycling enthusiast Chris Buckley will work with commercial partners, whilst existing sales manager Al Reid will retain an advisory role.
