Balfour Beatty on site creating link over marshland between Baswich and Tixall Road

Work starts on £1.6 million Stafford cycling bridge

Work has started on a £1.6 million cycle link crossing marshland between Baswich and Tixall Road in Stafford.

With a new bridge being built by the infrastructure company balfour Beatty, the construction will provide a leisure route for cyclists and walkers, as well as enabling commuters to cycle on traffic free paths from the south of Stafford to employment sites to the east and north of the town.

Work started during National Bike Week as every high school in Stafford joined up for the ‘Tour of Stafford’ organised by the county council and Staffordshire Police. It is hoped to repeat the event next year with the new bridge link being constructed by Balfour Beatty included in the route.

The route is expected to be completed by late December this year.
