UK made lubricant firm GT85 acquired by lubricant giant

WD-40 acquires GT85 Limited

Lubrication and maintenance giant WD-40 has acquired UK-based GT85 for an undisclosed sum.

"This acquisition, which includes the GT85 and SG85 brands, complements our multi-purpose maintenance products and will help us to build upon our strategy to develop new product categories for our WD-40 Specialist and WD-40 BIKE lines," said Garry Ridge, president and chief executive officer of WD-40 Company. "In addition, GT85 and WD-40 BIKE share a similar base of end-users who trust and respect both brands."

GT85’s largest market is the UK, with additional sales in Spain, the US, Australia and a handful of other European companies. The takeover will see the GT85 brand further developed domestically.

In recent times WD40 has also acquired 3-in-1 oil, hand cleaning firm Lava, Spot Shot and X-14, among others.

WD-40 recorded $385.5 million in net sales during 2013.
