Ursus has acquired a controlling stake in Saccon, and, in doing so, created what is being called “a new Italian powerhouse in premium cycling components”.

In the cycling industry, the move brings together Italian expertise in wheelsets, hubs, kickstands, quick releases, levers, brake systems, and control cables.

The transaction also includes Sacconplast, the in-house division dedicated to high-quality plastic components Made in Italy, which forms an integral part of the group.

Broad production capability

Seen as a strategic acquisition, this creates an integrated Italian industrial group with complementary capabilities spanning the entire production spectrum — from precision-engineered wheelsets and hubs to kickstands, quick-release systems, and complete braking solutions for every cycling discipline.

“Bringing Ursus and Saccon together represents a strategic step forward in building a stronger, more innovative supply chain that can compete on a global scale. We aim to create technical and manufacturing synergies that allow us to offer OEM partners complete, high-performance, and sustainable solutions — all proudly Made in Italy,” said Mirko Ferronato, CEO of Ursus.

“We share Ursus’s unwavering commitment to quality and customer focus. Joining a larger group allows us to strengthen our brand identity while accelerating technological development and expanding our product range — beyond cycling, across all the sectors where we have built our reputation over decades,” added Floriano Saccon.

Future formation and focus

Both companies — Ursus and Saccon — will continue operating as independent entities, maintaining their respective teams and manufacturing facilities while collaborating on shared objectives in innovation, R&D, and sustainability.

The newly formed group aims to strengthen Made in Italy leadership in cycling components and contribute to the growth of a key sector for future mobility.
