Extended bike fleet will be in use in the capital after the Olympics too, logistics firm says

UPS turns to bicycles during London 2012

To handle the increased traffic around the London 2012 Olympic Games, UPS has turned to cycles and walkers to make its deliveries.

The extension of its sustainability fleet of bikes will make deliveries to postcodes affected by temporary road closures and increased congestion during the Games.

“Bicycles were actually a foundation to our business over 100 years ago; when a few messenger boys began the business which became UPS today," said Cindy Miller, MD for UPS UK, Ireland and Nordics. "We’re excited to add them to our UK fleet at such a critical time for London’s businesses.”

The firm recently picked London’s East Central Cycles to star in a TV ad campaign based around the Olympics.

In case you were wondering, UPS is the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
