Orbit’s turnover in 2001 was up 63 percent. Margin was up by two percent.
"We had a good year," said Gershon. "We are still a very small company. The main reason for the growth was probably Dawes Cycles; inability to deliver, we sold more touring bikes and tandems."
2001 was also Orbit’s first year as BoB trailer distributor.
Orbit is extending its range of trailers with the 5-in-1 Monz trailer system from Germany, available from March. This is a base unit trailer on to which add-ons can be added, such as child-trailer top, raised cargo bars or extra-tough dog-trailer top.
The Sheffield manufacturer is also extending its touring bike range.
"We would like to be the number one supplier of tandems, trailers and touring bikes to the cycle trade in the UK [for 2002]," said Gershon.
