The Department for Transport is sponsoring the Cycling + Walking Innovations 2017 conference in November. The London-based event is organised by Landor Links and will be headline by transport minister Jesse Norman and gold-medal-winning Olympian Chris Boardman, now Greater Manchester’s walking and cycling commissioner.
The one-day event will discuss "new technologies, innovative commercial products and services and emerging service and delivery business models," says a blurb from the organiser.
Norman’s talk is titled: "How local, regional and national government is driving innovation in active travel."
Boardman will talk on "incentivising cycling initiatives".
Other speakers include Bicycle Association executive director Phillip Darnton, the former chair of Cycling England.
Laura Peacock, the innovation and research manager at Oxfordshire County Council, will talk on "partnerships between local authorities, business and academia to enable regional innovation in mobility."
There will also be an attched exhibition at the event which will include innovations in e-bikes, dockless bike share, augmented reality planning tools, virtual reality, accessible payment systems, mapping and wayfinding services, apps, journey planners, and cycle infrastructure planning tools.
The conference costs £245 per ticket for the private sector and £145 per tickets for individuals working in the public sector.
Cycling + Walking Innovations 2017 takes place at the Kia Oval in London on 21st November.
