Top five jobs of the week – 30th August

The BikeBiz jobs board filled over 550 positions in 2018, and listings are still on the rise. Here’s our latest top five…

Bike mechanic – Bolt Bikes

Your primary responsibilities will include coordinating customer servicing and maintaining bikes at a central London workshop. In addition, Bolt Bikes will need assistance in providing inductions to new riders and, if you are interested, helping market its product and services to the rider community in London. The bicycle mechanic’s job is key to its success as you will be essential to ensuring customers get the best experience. You will report to our UK operations manager, but you are expected to be proactive and manage your own time and responsibilities.

Mechanic – The Bike Man

The Bike Man is a friendly community-based shop based on the independent and colourful Gloucester Road high street. It is looking for a professional minded and experienced mechanic to work in its busy but chilled out Bristol based shop. You will ideally have a Cytech 2 or 3 qualification and be able to work on a variety of bicycle types. The applicant will ideally be capable of more technical jobs such as wheel building, brake bleeding and suspension servicing. It offers a competitive salary with a yearly bonus system.

Bicycle mechanic/sales assistant – Bicycle Junction

Apply for an adventure in New Zealand. Bicycle Junction is seeking an experienced, customer-facing bicycle mechanic and sales assistant. This is a varied role that demands flexibility between sales advice and repairs. Its growing workshop trade means it requires another full-time mechanic to maintain its high level of service but the focus of the role will be placed just as highly on your ability to connect with and sell to its ever-expanding set of valued customers. The successful applicant will have proven experience with a wide range of bicycle servicing including Bosch and Shimano e-bike motor systems. Ideally, you would also carry qualifications of Cytech level 2 or 3 and references to back this experience up.

Area account manager – Tandem Group Cycles

Tandem Group Cycles is now looking for an enthusiastic area account manager to join its team, and help push its brands and company forward. You will be working for a successful and focused company with exciting potential for growth. You will be responsible for your assigned area and will be tasked with growing established dealers, whilst also opening new opportunities wherever possible. The person: a dynamic, self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic character is required with real initiative and drive. You must have proven sales skills but experience in the bicycle industry is not essential; just proven sales skills and ambition to take your area forward.

Sales promoter – Schwalbe Tyres UK

A core part of its business plan is to support our wholesale distributors by promoting the Schwalbe brand directly to retail accounts. Reporting to the commercial and marketing managers and liaising with the internal sales, you will create a considered business plan demonstrating how you will grow the brand and achieve targets. You will be responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations with its extensive network of wholesale distributors and the implementation of key strategic partnerships, building and promoting Schwable directly to retailers. Ideally, you will be located in the Midlands as this is the area for which you will be responsible, in addition to areas in East Anglia, Wales and Ireland.
