Tickets for the 2027 Tour de France opening ceremony at Edinburgh Castle will go on pre-sale Friday, 23 October, opening up for general sale on 30 October.
The opening ceremony starts at 6:30 PM on Wednesday 30 June, giving fans a chance to be part of history as the world’s best cyclists are presented ahead of the 114th men’s Tour de France, which departs Edinburgh on Friday 2 July.

In 2027, the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will both begin in the United Kingdom, the first time both Grands Départs have taken place in the same country, outside France.
The joint UK Grand Départs mark an important moment for cycling, with both the men’s and women’s Tours showcased on one of the world’s greatest sporting stages. With millions of spectators expected, it will be the largest free-to-watch sporting event in UK history – Grand Départ GB
The opening ceremony will combine elite sport with an unmistakable Scottish welcome from The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, producers of one of the world’s greatest immersive events. Featuring Highland dancers, massed pipes and drums, and new music created specially for the occasion, the ceremony will celebrate Scotland’s culture and creativity while marking the start of an historic Grand Départ.
From Edinburgh, the men’s race will travel south to Carlisle before continuing through the Lake District to Liverpool, before heading into Wales for a finish in Cardiff.
