Downhill star finally nails the win

Steve Peat secures historic World Champs win

Steve Peat took the win in the weekend’s Downhill World Championships in Canberra.

Having been the only major title to so far elude the Great Britain star, Peaty is understandably celebrating.

Finishing the race just 0.05 ahead of South African Greg Minnaar, Peat was a fraction of a second away from the dreaded second place which he’s taken many times before.

Of the win Peat said: “It’s absolutely unreal and hasn’t really sunk in yet. The win’s been so long coming, to finally get here an have an awesome run, it’s unreal. I’ll be busting some moves on the dancefloor tonight.”
