Stan’s has introduced Polar Drip Wax, a plant-based chain lubricant developed with Whistler Performance Labs that uses polar bonding technology to deliver a clean, long-lasting alternative to hot-wax systems.
The product is set to launch officially with an MSRP of $18 / €18 / £18 for a 120ml / 4oz bottle.
According to Stan’s, Polar Drip Wax has been designed for riders seeking the efficiency and cleanliness associated with wax lubrication, but without the additional preparation and equipment required for immersion waxing.
The lube applies like a conventional drip product before curing into a dry wax film. Stan’s says its polar bonding formula chemically and mechanically bonds to steel, rather than simply coating the chain, helping improve retention, durability and drivetrain efficiency.
Developed in-house with WPL, Polar Drip Wax is claimed to be the first lubricant in the cycling industry to use a polar bonding formula. The lower-viscosity wax emulsion is designed to penetrate rollers and pins at room temperature, before the water carrier evaporates and leaves a thin, low-friction wax layer bonded to the metal surface.
Stan’s says the product can deliver more than 200 miles, or 322 kilometres, of longevity between applications and is suitable for all conditions.
Plant-based formula and recycled packaging
The formula is plant-based, biodegradable, PFAS and PTFE free, and contains no petroleum. The lubricant is manufactured in-house in the USA and supplied in a bottle made from 100% recycled sea plastic.
Stan’s has paired the launch with its Biobased Drivetrain Cleaner, which the brand says strips and primes the chain while leaving a residual polar film designed to improve penetration and bonding without harsh solvents.
