Shrewsbury’s Stan’s Cycles recently hosted a talk and Q&A session with Cyclotherapy’s Peter Hudson, covering psychology and sports therapy.
Stan’s Cycles’ customers and associated team Paramount CRT heard Hudson talk on the barriers to performance, confidence building while descending or riding in groups, as well as how to develop mental strength for climbing and racing.
Hudson is a Chartered Psychologist who runs a clinic (The Mindworks, Bridgnorth). In the talk discussed how improvements can be made in any sports arena by utilising one’s mental attitude to overcome the personal limitations that each individual might place on themselves, as well as identifying the contribution that therapeutic psychology can make when overcoming a psychological wall that may develop following an accident, illness or injury.
In the sesson, cyclists shared tales of pain and suffering received, while Hudson diagnosed problems and recovery techniques to overcome similar situations in the future.
Hudson is a support member of the ‘GB Transplant Cycle Team’, which assists individuals who have overcome the trauma of transplant surgery to go forward and take part in various sporting and athletic arenas, enabling them to enjoy their activities and not be inhibited unnecessarily by their medical history.
Cyclotherapy is looking to host further sessions with IBDs, teams and clubs across the UK. Interested parties should contact Cyclotherapy via Max Bikes PR: team@maxbikespr.co.uk; 07531627433
