Santini has introduced a non-PFAS waterproof jacket called Magic, made with a Polartec 100% recycled polyester fabric.
Joining forces to create a unique waterproof jacket – featuring a highly breathable monolithic membrane and a Durable Water Repellent treatment (DWR) – the Magic rain jacket by Santini features Polartec Power Shield RPM, a recycled 2-layer polyester fabric that “revolutionises weather protection” by offering best-in-class waterproofness and breathability.
Critically, the fabric “also ensures high-stretch comfort and resilience”. With its extensive range of motion and highly durable 100% recycled polyester membrane designed for high-intensity activities, Power Shield RPM has been developed to “deliver all-day comfort, making it perfect for cyclists who refuse to trade performance for sustainability.”
Key points in focus
The 100% recycled polyester Polartec Power Shield RPM fabric is waterproof, non-PFAS, lightweight, and extremely stretchable, representing yet another milestone in reducing our impact on the planet and enabling circular processes.
- Power Shield RPM features a highly durable non-PFAS coating to repel precipitation and has a 10,000 mm hydrostatic head to keep external moisture out.
- When combined with an industry-leading breathability spec of 30,000g/m2/24hrs, Power Shield RPM redefines the idea of unstoppable comfort for highly active users.
- More importantly, it helps solve one of the biggest problems for competitive cyclists: underperformance due to overheating – up to 50% less compared to other Polartec membranes.
- The fabric’s exceptional stretch and recovery also provides a full range of motion to satisfy the requirements of top-tier athletes and weekend enthusiasts alike.
- In addition, the use of sustainably sourced recycled polyester reduces the product’s carbon footprint.
Rider priorities front and centre
Santini has chosen Polartec Power Shield RPM specifically for its ability to provide stretchy, soft, silent and highly breathable materials that are perfectly adapted for use in the worst conditions a cyclist would ever find themselves in.
Completely thermo-sealed and wear-resistant, Santini Magic features an extended back to keep the body completely dry in the rain. It’s also extremely light, with the fabric weighing only 100 g/m² and the jacket, in size M, just 155 grams. This means it can be easily stowed in the side-zip pocket located on the back of the jacket, making it perfectly portable.
The Magic jacket has a double front zipper that opens from both the bottom and the top, a high collar for maximum protection from wind and rain, and a reflective Santini logo on the back ensuring visibility and safety during darker hours.
The Magic jacket is available exclusively in black at Santini stores and the VIA store in London, as well as online at santinicycling.
