Raise cycling’s profile: win one of the new Sport Industry Awards

The Sport Industry Awards (SIAs) are launched today with an accompanying website going live at http://www.sportawards.co.uk.

The Awards are independently organised by Benchmark Sport, with proceeds going to sporting charity SPARKS.

The categories are:

Best TV, radio, poster and print media advertising

Best sponsorship sports individual or team, sports programme or event and sponsorship on a small budget

Best sports magazine

Best designed sports kit

Best sports website

Best sports brand of the year.

Entries cost £250 a pop.

The judging panel includes Karren Brady, feisty MD of Birmingham City FC; former sports minister Tony Banks MP; John O’Keeffe, executive creative director of ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty; Marcel Knobil, chairman of the Superbrands Organisation; Paul Leonard, BT’s Head of Sponsorship; journalist and sports author Donald Trelford; and Richard Callicott, CEO of UK Sport.

Entries are open from today until 19th November with awards being made at a ceremony to be held in central London in April 2002.

Cycle businesses which ought to consider entering include Ison Distribution for its small budget sponsorship deals; Bikemagic.com for its sports website; Singletrack, for its sports website and sports magazine; and Mud Dock for its excellent team kit.
