interbike unveiling and demo for hardtail e-mtb

Pedego launches discreet Ridge Rider e-MTB

Pedego has expanded into e-MTBs with the Ridge Rider, now available to test ride on the Interbike demo track.

Sporting a 48 volt, 11 amp hour battery that powers a 500 watt geared motor, the Ridge Rider is more than capable on mountain ascents. Like all other builds in the line, the Ridge Rider now benefits from a USB charge port stemming from the handlebar computer. This introduction will charge lights or phones on the move.

With the battery concealed in the downtube, the Ride Rider looks like a typical 27.5 hardtail, yet offers five levels of power assist. 100mm of front suspension is delivered via a Suntour XCR Air fork, while Magura front and rear hydraulics provide control of the trail.

Don DiConstanzo told BikeBiz: "Early responses for the Ridge Rider have been dramatic, with comments like "it’s love at first ride. What we’re finding with bikes like this one is that it’s not necessarily the cyclist interested, it’s perhaps somebody who hasn’t cycled for a while but fancies an adventure. We’re expecting these to do well with hire and tour firms. Around 70 per cent of our custom now goes to women who want to cycle more."

It’s an easily serviced package for both the dealer and consumer, with a key popping the battery on and off and largely plug and play electrics.

Pedego are found at the Mandalay Bay on booth CIR4, with demos available until 6pm today (Vegas time). An introductory retail price of $3,395 is currently available.

Among other builds on the Pedego booth, you’ll find what the brand claims is the world’s only e-tandem, as well as a bright pink collaboration cruiser with the Ford Motor Company to celebrate cancer survivors with the Warriors in Pink cause benefitting.
