MARKET CONTEXT
The e-road segment has moved from niche to a recognised category within the cycling market. Over the past several seasons, volume has grown steadily across Europe, driven by a combination of improving motor technology, better battery integration and a broadening of the rider profile interested in the category.
However, the category has also revealed a clear division in approach. Many e-road bikes on the market have been developed as hybrid platforms, gravel or endurance geometries adapted to accept a motor, rather than bikes designed from the outset for road use. The result is often a machine that compromises road feel in favour of versatility.
At Megamo, the opportunity was seen differently. The Upon is designed specifically for road use: road geometry, road cockpit, road tyre profile, and a motor tune calibrated for sustained effort on tarmac rather than short bursts on variable terrain. The objective is to give the classic road rider who wants Avinox power for longer days, bigger climbs or sustained group riding. A bike that does not ask them to change how they ride.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The Upon is categorised as an e-road bike within the Megamo range. It shares the Avinox motor platform with the Along (e-gravel) but is developed as a fully independent product with dedicated frame, fork, cockpit and specification.

DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
The Upon was developed around a single design principle: the motor should support the rider, not redefine the ride. Every technical decision from geometry to tyre choice to motor tune, has been made in service of that principle.
This means the Upon does not attempt to be versatile. It is a road bike. Riders who want a mixed-terrain or gravel-capable e-bike are directed to the Along. The Upon exists for the rider whose riding is on tarmac, and who wants the best possible road experience with Avinox power on board.
Frame and Geometry
The Upon uses a Carbon SL frame developed specifically for the e-road application. The geometry takes a road-forward approach with two key adaptations for the e-road use case:
- Longer reach: provides a stable, controlled position that works with the motor’s power delivery rather than against it. A longer reach reduces the tendency to rotate under motor torque and gives the rider a more planted feel on climbs.
- Low bottom bracket: maintains the classic road bike feel — the low, centred riding position that road cyclists recognise and prefer. Combined with the 42 mm tyre clearance, the BB height is calibrated to give appropriate clearance while keeping the centre of gravity low.
- 2 mm seatpost: the narrower-diameter seatpost provides a degree of material flex that adds comfort on long road rides without requiring a separate compliance system. This is a deliberate specification choice, not a compromise.
- UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger): the frame is UDH-compatible, ensuring compatibility with current and future electronic drivetrain systems from both Shimano and SRAM.

Motor Platform — Avinox M2 / M2S
The Upon is equipped with the Avinox M2 or M2S drive unit depending on the build level. Both units are tuned specifically for road use, a calibration that differs meaningfully from the MTB-optimised tune used on the Reason.
The road-specific motor tune prioritises smooth, progressive power delivery suited to sustained effort and consistent cadence. Rather than the immediate high-torque response required for technical trail riding, the Upon’s tune is designed to feel natural in a peloton context, assistance that amplifies the rider’s effort without creating an abrupt change in ride character.
- Avinox M2: 110 Nm regular / 125 Nm boost · 1100 W peak · 2.65 kg
- Avinox M2S: 130 Nm regular / 150 Nm boost · 1500 W peak · 2.6 kg
The power available is significantly higher than competing systems, Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 peaks at 800 W; Specialized 3.1 at 810 W. This difference translates to meaningful real-world performance, particularly on long climbs or sustained efforts at group pace.

Battery — 600 Wh Fixed Integration
The Upon uses the Avinox 600 Wh battery in a fully integrated, fixed configuration. This is a deliberate design choice that prioritises clean aesthetics and road-bike proportions over the removable convenience offered by other future models of the brand.
The fixed integration allows the frame to maintain the visual and structural profile of a road bike, no external battery housing, no compromise in tube section design. For the target rider, who predominantly charges at home between rides, a fixed battery represents no practical limitation and significant visual gains.
600 Wh provides a realistic range of 70–120 km depending on assist level, terrain and rider output Sufficient for the majority of road riding scenarios including sportives, long club rides and multi-hour training sessions.
