Lightweight, the wheel manufacturer from Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, has announced that Marco Hinzer has been supporting the team as marketing manager since October 1, 2024.
This move further positions the provider of high-end full-carbon wheels for further growth, continuing the company’s positive development.
The 37-year-old, originally from Nuremberg, now based in Munich, is a recognised marketing expert with
extensive knowledge in the cycling industry and media.
As a former media sales and marketing manager, Hinzer is well-versed in the latest market and product trends within the cycling sector and brings with him a broad network.
With his experience and progressive working style, he is expected to support the Lightweight brand across the entire marketing mix, contributing to the brand’s ongoing repositioning.
Hinzer’s active involvement as a rider and organiser in ultracycling events emphasises his passion
for cycling and its community.
“Marco’s passion for cycling and ultracycling, combined with his marketing expertise and authenticity, were the key factors in my decision to work with him,” says Christoph Sawitzki, vice president of Lightweight.
“The chemistry was right from the start, and I was truly excited to see how enthusiastic he was about the Lightweight brand from day one.”
In addition, Lightweight has confirmed the appointment of a new Tune and Lightweight foreign trade representative for Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, Martin Grosen, from Bikesports SE.
He started at the beginning of this month.
In the UK and Ireland, Lightweight is exclusively distributed by Windwave.
This collaboration, effective from February this year, marked a strategic move to elevate the accessibility of Lightweight’s products in the UK and Ireland.
