Lezyne has unveiled a new front and rear LED bike light system featuring vehicle detection radar technology and built-in visual and audio alerts.
The brand says the system greatly improves rider visibility, awareness, and safety. And it can be used for alerts without the need for a phone app or GPS bike computer after initial setup. It’s incredibly powerful, and extremely simple to use with its variety of ways to connect and receive alerts. It is now available in all major international markets.
The system features the Radar Drive rear bike light (300-lumen max) and React Drive front bike light (1200-lumen max). Each light is available for purchase individually or as the Radar React System (front and rear pair). The system is highly versatile yet easy to use. The Radar Drive on its own provides added visibility with a special flash pattern that’s triggered when it detects a rear-approaching vehicle. This greatly improves visibility independent of the need to connect to any other devices.
Lezyne says they have developed an industry-first system that integrates real-time visual and audio vehicle detection alerts into the React Drive front light using special rider-facing LED. These alerts activate when paired with the Radar Drive rear light.
This provides visual and audio vehicle detection alerts without the need for a GPS bike computer or a smartphone (aside from a one-time setup). It’s a complete visibility solution with just a front and rear light: riders benefit from daytime visibility via disruptive flash modes, improved awareness through radar detection and alerts, and a front light bright enough for advanced night riding.
The system can also be used with the custom-built Lezyne Radar Ally phone app and compatible GPS bike computers for vehicle detection alerts.
Radar detection range is 150 meters—on par with other popular radar-equipped cycling lights. The technology has been custom-tuned in-house through extensive testing to provide highly reliable tracking of rear-approaching vehicles in real time.
The Radar Ally app, developed by Lezyne, allows users to visually and/or audibly track rear-approaching vehicles with an intuitive interface. Riders can also use the app to customise system alerts, control the front and rear lights, and check for system firmware updates.
The Radar Drive and React Drive both feature Lezyne’s advanced optics and rugged, compact, stylish aesthetics. They are both IPX7 waterproof-rated and are USB-C rechargeable. The React Drive provides up to 70 hours of battery runtime, and the Radar Drive will last for up to 20 hours.
According to Lezyne, the system was developed entirely in-house and, like all Lezyne lights, has been tested, manufactured, and quality-control verified before leaving their factory.
