Today is Small Business Saturday. The business-boosting promotion has been running for five years and is the antithesis to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2016, Small Business Saturday estimated that customers spent £717m on the day, an increase of 15 percent on the previous year.
The event is supported by 82 percent of UK councils, many of whom award grants for promotions, close off streets and support markets and fairs.
For every £1 spent locally, 63p gets reinvested into the local economy.
You know what to do, get out there and into your local bike shop!
