Halfords has pulled off a recruitment coup by recruiting Peter Kimberley as divisional director together with Jim Berkeley as head of trading for Cycling Parts, Accessories and Clothing.
Kimberley joins Halfords with 25 years of retail experience and in his last position was head of retail for FW Evans Cycles, where he lead the company’s ambitious store expansion activity. Before Evans Cycles, he held senior retail positions at other leading retailers including DFS, Toys R Us and Kingfisher.
Berkeley joins Halfords from Chain Reaction Cycles where he was head of trading online and retail; prior to Chain Reaction, he spent 12 years as founder and managing director of retail businesses Okaidi and DV8 Shoes. He has a proven track record in the cycle industry and a deep understanding of a rapidly-growing sector
Both will play key roles in the continued expansion of Halfords’ cycling proposition, the retailer said.
Halfords’ chief executive Matt Davies commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Peter and Jim to Halfords. Peter brings with him significant experience of retailing through his work in growing Evans Cycles and will lead a number of key cycling-focused strategic projects including cycle repair. Similarly, Jim brings significant retailing experience, especially in online buying and marketing and will play a key role in increasing our PACs offering, both in-store and online.
“I’m looking forward to working with both Peter and Jim as we continue our growth at Halfords and get more people enjoying cycling.”
