Retailer 'working hard to support affected stores'

Halfords: ‘For most of our stores it is business as usual, despite riots’

A number of Halfords stores have been affected by the rioting that has been taking place in cities across the UK over the last few nights, the retailer confirmed.

The store affirmed that no staff have been injured during the looting and added that for the vast majority of stores it is business as usual.

Halfords told BikeBiz: “During the violence seen in London and other cities over the last three nights, a number of Halfords stores in London have been affected. This shocking criminality is causing great concern and fear in the local communities, but I am relieved that none of our store colleagues have been injured during the violence.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers remains our number one priority. We will take advice from the police in terms of any early store closures necessary and we are working hard to support all the stores which have been affected. For the vast majority of our stores it is business as usual and I would like to thank all our colleagues for their continued hard work and dedication."

There’s more on the previous nights here. News reports suggest last night (Wednesday) was largely quiet, possibly due in part to inclement weather.
