Guest speakers announced for London Bike Show

The London Bike Show and Triathlon Show: London has announced the schedule of speakers in attendance at this year’s event.

Taking place at London’s ExCel from 29th to 31st March, the show will have more than 300 bike, kit and accessory brands on display, as well as opportunities to test ride the latest bikes on the test track and the kids test track, and a mini pump track.

Joining Olympic and World Championship winning triathlon brothers Jonny and Alistair Brownlee, who will be cutting the ribbon to open proceedings on behalf of OTE Sports, is a plethora of cycling and triathlon champions, experts and coaches who will be gracing the show’s various stages over the course of the event.

Speakers spanning all disciplines of cycling, triathlon and other sports will feature across three different stages – the main Performance Theatre, the 220 Triathlon Experts Stage and Casquette Live.

Performance Theatre
The opening day will be headlined by the Brownlee brothers, who also open the show, while day one will also see retired professional cyclist turned pundit Sean Kelly take to the stage.

Former Dirty Sanchez TV personality Matt Pritchard turned triathlete and vegan chef will feature, along with 220 Triathlon magazine editor Helen Webster. Cyclo-cross veteran Helen Wyman will speak on Saturday, offering insight into the cycling discipline and a look at ‘what’s next’ since announcing her retirement.

Ben Spencer, research fellow from Oxford Brookes University, will present research from the cycle Boom study, which explores how e-bikes impact cycling as people get older and how this affects their mobility, health and wellbeing.

Coming to the show off the back of the current Track World Championships, Olympic and World Champion cyclist Katie Archibald will headline Sunday’s Performance Theatre line-up, with back-to-back Junior World Cyclo-Cross Champion Ben Tulett will also return to the show after opening last year.

The Cycling UK Women’s Festival of Cycling will launch, while Professor George Whyte will also be speaking about his approach to coaching. Saturday will also boast multiple Ironman World Champion and Parkrun head of participation Chrissie Wellington as well as BBC One Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, who will be talking about her transformation into a Team GB triathlete. Both will be interviewed by Webster.

Trail Unknown founders Hugo Van Dorssen and Tom Shopland will offer insight on the future of UK MTB tourism. Guinness World Record holder for cycling across Europe, Leigh Timmis, will discuss the benefits of cycling on mental health.

220 Triathlon Experts Stage
Headlining the triathlon-focused stage at the show, curated by 220 Triathlon magazine, will be international renowned coach Joe Beer, and Yiannis Christadoulou who will discuss his transition from non-swimmer to GB Aquathlon Team Captain. Adventurer Fiona Quinn will take to the stage on Sunday to give insight into her challenge of completing a length-of-Britain triathlon, while Mark Kleanthous will also share insights.

Also featuring are author Martyn Brunt, performance coach Adelaide Goodeve, Swim Smooth coaches, and young triathlon stars Cheeky Ben and Billie Jordan Butler.

Casquette Live
In addition to appearing on the Performance Theatre stage, Archibald and Wyman will also be speaking as part of Casquette Live, a ‘celebration of women’s cycling’ promoted by Casquette media and magazine. Joining them will be cycling journalist and presenter Rebecca Charlton and former professional cyclists Molly Weaver and Iris Slappendel.
