The Pedicab from the Seat of the Pants was chunky. The Brox looked sexy. Indian rickshaws have never caught on. Now there's a new entrant, the futuristic-looking Barbel Velotaxi

Follow that Velotaxi!

This is being imported from Germany by Barbi Rodger, MD of Barbel Developments Limited of Bakewell, an import/export company.

“The Barbel Velotaxi brings a whole new dimension to inner city travel and represents a revolutionary method of transport as well as an eye catching advertising medium,” claims Barbi.

“We spent a whole day driving around London and its tourist attractions last week and everywhere the Velotaxi went people stopped, stared and asked questions. Their reaction to the vehicle was fantastic and they all wanted to know when they could have a go in one!”

The Velotaxi can incorporate an electric motor to supplement muscle-power. The cabin can comfortably seat two people with light luggage and, with a clear plastic roof, passengers can be sheltered from light rain.

Florists Moyses Stevens used the first Barbel Velotaxi in the UK on a test exercise and to deliver flowers in and around Belgravia, London.

Barbi Rodger spotted the Velotaxi during a visit to Berlin on a Derbyshire tourism mission.
