Five parties face a grilling from city’s cyclists

Cyclists in Cardiff are to be given the chance to grill representatives of five leading political parties on what they will do to improve cycling in the Welsh capital.

In the run-up to this year’s City Council elections, Plaid Cymru, the Conservatives, the Green Party, Labour and the Lib Dems have all agreed to attend the special cycling hustings on Tuesday, April 4th. The event has been organised by Cardiff Cycle City, the organisation that is aiming to make Cardiff the best city for cycling in the UK.

Spokesperson for Cardiff Cycle City Dave Hann said: “We are delighted that five leading parties have accepted our invitation, it shows just how serious an issue cycling is for politicians. With more and more people in Cardiff taking to two wheels there are lots of votes at stake.

“The event will give people an opportunity to ask all the main parties exactly how they will provide better cycling facilities to allow more of us to enjoy travelling by bike and help improve our health and the city’s air quality.”

The hustings is to be held at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4th 2017 in the Japan Room of the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. Entry is free but spaces are limited and tickets can be booked here.
