Evans Cycles is to open a shop-in-shop trial in the new Blacks' camping and outdoor store on the outskirts of York. If the trial is successful, more concessions would be opened nationwide.

Evans and Blacks strike store deal

Evans currently has 22 stores across the UK. Blacks has 104. The York store is at the Monks Cross shopping park on York’s outer ring road.

“This is an exciting new mix for us,” said Evans Cycles’ MD, Mike Rice.

“The Evans Cycles and Blacks product ranges perfectly complement each other, with excellent crossover in the customer profile for both retailers. They are active, outdoor orientated consumers.

“We will be offering the same level of products and service as any of our stand-alone stores. This partnership with Blacks will enable us to extend our customer reach."

Blacks’ has issued two profit warnings since mid-July. Yesterday the store group revealed its financial forecast that said it would break even at best for the first half of the year.
