Entries for the second Manchester Cycle are now open to anyone wishing to take advantaged of a closed road circuit which last year drew 7,000 cyclists.
Starting and finishing at Etihad Campus, the home of Manchester City FC, the event will once again feature three different distances and is designed to cater for all abilities, from club cyclists to families who wish to take on the challenge together.
Nova International which organises the event has altered this year’s course slightly and the route will see riders take over major trunk roads within Manchester and Trafford. The 13-mile loop will give participants the chance to see the city from a whole new perspective as they ride along roads normally off-limits to cyclists, including a stretch of Manchester’s busiest motorway – the iconic Mancunian way.
Entry for each route will cost just £20 for adults and £5 for kids. Children aged 3-7 can take part for free.
Jamie Still, Operations Manager at Nova International, said: “We were thrilled with the success of the 2012 event and we are working very hard to ensure this year will be even bigger and better.”
He continued: “Following on from the success of Team GB cyclists at the London Games it is not surprising that more people are dusting off their bikes and going out for a ride. The Great Manchester Cycle provides the perfect opportunity to explore the city by bike on the safety of fully closed roads.”
