Recently launched at Bespoked 2017, the Phantom road bike has been awarded the Steve Worland Innovation Award for its carbon design and handmade construction.
Bicycles by Design and Duratec introduced the Phantom road bike to the UK at Bespoked 2017, at the heart of which is the Phantom full carbon frame made from the world’s strongest fibre. Designed and hand crafted in Europe, the frame weighs just 760 grams.
For production, Duratec developed new technologies in which the frame is hardened completely from a single piece. It contains no glued parts and no subsequent joins. The use of the latest type of carbon fibre and special layering of material pushes the frame’s technical parameters and handling to the limit of the material’s technical possibilities.
Katerina Duchkova from Duratec commented: ”It’s wonderful to win this award at our global launch event for the Phantom. To be recognised for all the hard work, passion and proprietary technology we have invested in Phantom is amazing and we are extremely grateful to Bespoked, the judges and all the cyclists who visited us at the show. We look forward to working with Bicycles By Design to get riders on the bikes and experiencing the fantastic ride qualities that the Phantom offers.”
