Skipping gears 'caused crash' into vehicle, according to claimant

Cyclist seeks compensation after alleged Halfords’ bodge job

Halfords has apologised to a cyclist who claims that dodgy repair work caused her to lose control of her bike and become involved in an accident on the roads.

Seeking compensation from the chain store, the Lancashire Evening Post reports that a Kath Percival, an experienced cyclist, took her bike to two separate branches concerned with how the gears were shifting. Not long after the latter visit, Percival claims that the gears jammed sending her into a car while negotiating a roundabout.

The cyclist claims that the February incident has left her with lasting pain in her left leg. Percival told her local paper that an engineering report detailed how some parts on her Specialized Roubaix had worn down, something she says should have been spotted on her visits to the two branches.
