'We are heartened by a strong resurgence in families eager to give their children quality time in the outdoors cycling together'

Children’s bike specialist Islabikes eyes expansion

Islabikes is planning to expand its Shropshire-based premises and grow its customer service and workshop team following an "incredible start to the year".

Islabikes is the brainchild of UK designer Isla Rowntree, who founded the well regarded brand in 2006.

“We are heartened by a strong resurgence in families eager to give their children quality time in the outdoors simply having fun cycling together," said company director Isla Rowntree.

"We have experienced an incredible start to the year and are looking forward to the busy months ahead with new members of staff and more space.”

The company plans to complete its expansion in time for the peak season at Christmas. For anyone considering buying a bike for Christmas, Islabikes recommends ordering as soon as possible to ensure delivery in good time.

The firm added: "Our ultimate aim is for all of us to realise that a lightweight, intelligently designed bicycle makes a real difference to a child’s enjoyment of cycling. The range begins with a balance bike for 2+ years and continues with starter bikes, mountain bikes and a versatile set of road bikes for children of all ages.

"Each bike is as much about giving a child the best possible start in cycling as it is about that child being able to share the enjoyment of the outdoors with family and friends. There’s even a bike to inspire or rekindle the love of cycling in the proud parents."
